The objective of the College of Business Administration is to educate students to become competent and professional business administrators with the ability to make efficient decisions. The College focuses on the systematic study of management principles and practical techniques that are applicable to real-life business. Moreover, students are encouraged to think innovatively and to develop insight into the social role of business, as such capabilities are essential to become competent executives.
The College started as the College of Commerce in 1946. The Department of Business Administration was created in 1962, and the Department of Commerce merged with the Department of Business Administration in 1968. After SNU moved to the Gwanak campus in 1975, the Department of Business Administration became independent from the College of Commerce and established itself as the premier educational and research center for business in Korea. Alumni are taking a leading role in the industrial and financial sectors in Korea. Many have become executives, public officials, professors or researchers. Recently the bachelor's, master's and doctoral courses in the College of Business Administration have been recognized as world-class programs by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) for the first time in Korea. The College of Business Administration will build on such recognition, and dedicate itself to nurturing business leaders and world-class companies in the 21st century.
