The College of Fine Arts was founded with two departments (Painting and Music) in 1946, when Seoul National University was incorporated. In 1981, its three departments (Painting, Sculpture, and Design) were reorganized and the current five departments were established (Oriental Painting, Sculpture, Crafts, and Design). The departments of crafts and design were integrated into the School of Crafts and Design in 1999, and doctoral programs for design and painting were added in March 2004. |
| The College of Fine Arts emphasizes that students should be interested in human life and nature while they develop a specialty in their major subject. The goal of the College is to enable students to realize their full potential through creative activities. | |
