The 6th Invitation to apply for the Undergraduate Student Study Group

1. Introduction


In order to encourage and motivate undergraduate students, the Center for Teaching & Learning at SNU (Bldg 61), is supporting study groups composed of the students of the same class.


The Center for Teaching & Learning at SNU will provide the selected groups with the study rooms and financial aid to the selected groups as well as training for group leaders.

The selected groups will be required to submit an interim report every 2 weeks and will have a chance to present their achievements, which will decide the top study group, at the end of the semester.


The members of the study group will enhance their communication skills, sense of belonging, and team spirit as well as a meaningful achievement in their field.



2. Invitation to Apply for the Undergraduate Student Study Group

- Running Period:

Fall semester (September~December), 2007

- Application Period:

Aug. 27~ Sep. 12

- Qualification:

A study group composed of students of the same class (4~6 students)

- Procedure: Submit the application form via online. (http://ctl.snu.ac.kr/study/index2.html)

Upload the application via the main website of the Center for Teaching & Learning at SNU.


* Fill out the details freely within the format.


* Examination Standard


- The appropriateness of the theme and concreteness of the plan.

- Both the College and the class will be in consideration according to their level and characteristics



3. Operating Procedure of the Study Group

1) There will be a meeting of the group leaders, which will be held after the selection of the study group.

2) The group must submit an interim report every 2 weeks through the Study Bulletin Board. (http://ctl.snu.ac.kr/study/index2.html )


3) Study groups must consult their class professors at least twice, and include the result of the consultation in the interim report.

4) The second financial aid will be provided after the submission of the 4th interim report.

5) The excellent study groups will be awarded at the final presentation.

6) Study groups should have their own study meeting once a week, at least 10 times before the end of the semester.


4. Details of Given Support

1) Financial Aid (A gift voucher worth 40,000 KRW for each student)

2) Grand Prize for the Best Study Group (Value: 1,000,000 KRW)

3) Study Room: Library located on the first floor of the Center for Teaching & Learning at SNU (Bldg 61)

 (You may choose the time and date according to your schedules.)

- The rooms are available from 10 AM to 6 PM (amendable)

- Each team can use the room for 2 hours. (Maximum use is 3 hours)

4) Study Bulletin Board

- To submit the interim report every 2 weeks.

- For notices and suggestions about the study group.
