『FRIENDS LOVE YOU』, Resettlement Program for Foreign Students

Happy New Year 2008! The FLY program will be launched on January 7th. I am the program manager in SIFE. We are looking for foreign students to participate in the FLY program this year.

SNU SIFE

SIFE (Students In Free Enterprise) is a nonprofit organization that gives students the tools to learn the free enterprise system in real work environments. Working in partnership with businesses and other institutions of higher education, SIFE has established student teams on 2000 university campuses in 50 countries. SIFE challenges these teams to take what they're learning in the classroom and use their knowledge to better their communities.

Established at SNU in April 2007, there are now 16 SIFE members on campus.

FLY Program

The purpose of FLY Program, organized by SNU SIFE, is to help foreign students to cope well with the challenges they face while living in Korea. In the program, foreign students will teach their languages and culture to Korean elementary students during vacation.

Through the program, foreign students will gain the opportunity to communicate with the local Korean community directly and the Korean kids can experience other cultures and languages.

We designed the program to

1)    provide economic aid for foreign students

2)    instill a sense of pride in foreign students while they contribute to the local Korean community

3)    establish a sustainable self-resettlement program for foreign students in view of the increasing number of students who come to study in Korea.

The program is hosted by CJ Donors Camp and Cyworld.

Requirements

1)    Participants must be foreign students who have resided in Korea for more than 6 months (Overseas Koreans are not included)

2)    Korean language proficiency.

We may choose only one candidate from each country if there are more than two candidates from the same country.

Program Schedule

January 7th ~ January 28th, classes last from 2:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.

* The post is salaried.

* Each participant will teach language and culture (e.g. music, traditional food, traditional games) during 3 classes out of the 3-week course.
