SNU Wins First Place at ACM-ICPC

16th ACM-ICPC Asia-Daejeon Regional College Student Programming Contest

The Ministry of Science, ICT and Future Planning hosted the 16th ACM-ICPC Asia-Daejeon Regional college student programming contest from November 4 to 5 at the Munji campus of KAIST (Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology).

The contest invited the winners of the ACM-ICPC Asia-Daejeon Korea National Online First Round Programming Contest held from August 16 to September 13. 615 teams from 62 schools participated in the online event, and only 78 teams were selected for the Regional challenge.

First place: Seoul National University ACG Team (CHOI Suk Hwan, YOON Ji Hak, CHO Seung hyun)
Second place: KAIST hYEAHyea (KANG Han Pil, KOH Ji Hoon, LEE Jong Hyun)
Third place: Korea University Never Give Up (LEE Seung Jae, LEE Chang Su, CHANG Hong Jun)
Fourth Place: Yonsei University Real Recognize Real (PARK Hweh Hyun, CHUNG Young Hoon, LEE Taek Hee)

The first place team was awarded the presidential prize, while the second, third, and fourth place winners were awarded the Future Deputy Secretary prizes.

The contest was hosted by the Ministry of Science, ICT and Future Planning, supervised by the National Information Society Agency and the Korean Institute of Information Scientists and Engineers, and sponsored by KAIST, IBM, ACM, NEXON Korea, Kakao Corp, and Samsung SDS.

The first and second place teams will be granted entry fees to participate in the upcoming 2017 ACM-ICPC competition in the US as Korea’s representatives, and the third and fourth place teams will receive KRW 1 million each.

The ACM-ICPC (International Collegiate Programming Contest) is an annual multi-tiered programming competition among universities from all over the world. The contest is sponsored by IBM and located at Baylor University in Texas, United States.
