Inauguration of President Lee Jang-Moo

``As Seoul National University has been too absorbed in studies, we have neglected to grasp `phronesis,’ the wisdom of practice that has held us back in sharing, sacrificing and developing leaders. SNU should fulfill its responsibilities to the country and the people by volunteering, caring for society and nurturing future leaders,’’ Lee said in his inauguration speech.
He added that he will further develop SNU as an open community so that the school can foster creative ideas.

Lee was elected as President in May 2006, and wll head the school during his four-year tenure. Lee already began his official work as the SNU president from July 20.
A graduate of SNU’s college of engineering, he obtained his Ph.D in mechanical engineering from Iowa State University in the U.S.
He has lectured at the SNU since 1976, and was dean of the engineering college between 1997 and 2002.
Having held many academic and public posts, he now serves as president of Korean Society for New and Renewable Energy and is a member of the national committee for innovation of science and technology.
