SNU to Raise Scholarship Funds

Seoul National University (SNU) plans to raise scholarship funds.

The plan includes three main projects _ a local network project, an ethnic Korean networks project and a ``hallyu,’’ or Korean cultural wave, network project. All the projects are ``give and take’’ endeavors.

In the local network project, SNU will raise funds from local cities or provinces where the school has allocated an admission quota, and will provide scholarships to the students from those areas. SNU will invest time and money for studies to develop local societies, he said.

For the ethnic Korean networks project, SNU will draw funds from ethnic Koreans all over the world. Using the funds, the school will support children of ethnic Koreans overseas to study at SNU, he said.

Lastly, the hallyu network project aims to attract money from Korean companies that have branched out into foreign countries and contributed to their development. SNU will adopt prestigious professors and students from around the world and support them, the spokesman said.
