Alternate-Day-No-Driving System to Save Energy

SNU has decided to take part in the National Energy-Saving Policy to reduce energy expenditure. One specific step to be taken under this purpose is the “Alternate-Day-No-Driving System”. According to this program, cars with license plates that end with odd numbers may enter the campus area only on days ending with odd numbers. The same goes for license plates and days ending with even numbers. For example, on the 15th of July, only those cars with license plates ending with 1, 3, 5, 7, or 9 may be driven on campus. If cars with even number license plates are found, their entrance will be prohibited.

The Alternate-Day-No-Driving System starts on the SNU campus on the 15th of July and continues until further notice. Entrance to the campus will be prohibited to those vehicles which violate these rules.

○ Vehicles subject to the system: Private vehicles driven by professors, instructors, and all other faculty members (including cars with parking tags).

○ Exceptions: Vehicles driven by students, vehicles used by handicapped persons, vehicles carrying pregnant women or infants, emergency vehicles, and hybrid-engine vehicles

※Note: all vehicles are exempt from the program on weekends, the 31st day of every month, and national holidays.
