SNU library will provide a books recall service, which enables borrowers to request the recall of a book which has already been checked out to another borrower. All borrowers are expected to honor the recall request in order to assure the collection’s accessibility to all library users.
○ Restrictions
- Foreign books in the stacks which are the only volume in the library
- Books borrowed for more than a half of the lending period
- Two recall requests available per individual and one available per book
○ Requesting recalls for new borrowers
- Log on to the main library website (http://library.snu.ac.kr)
① Search and click “Advanced Search”
② Check for the availability, “Loaned”
- Once informed that the requested book is available, the borrower must obtain the recalled book within 3 days to borrow the book for 5 days regardless of the book status
(Requesting is available only to accounts with an e-mail address and cell phone number)
- Recall request cancellation can be made in “My Library” on the website in case the book status is “circulation available”
○ Returning recalled books for original borrowers

- when the original borrower wants the book back |
- The original borrower must choose either “permanent return” or “temporary return” within 7 days from the date on which the recall is placed.
- In case of temporary return, after being given the book back, the original borrower may use the book for the remainder of original lending period.
- The return date for recalled books cannot be renewed.
○ Penalties on recall service
The following situation will result in 6 months suspension of access to the service.
- Two instances of not submitting the book which the borrower requested for a recall
- Two instances of denying the recall request
○ E-mail and text message service
- The original borrower will be notified if the borrowed book is requested for a recall.
- When the requested book is returned, the new borrower will be notified.
- The original borrower will be notified regarding the available date of borrowing.
