Activity Report of Student Association for the period of March ~ August 2008

Activity Report of the Student Association for the spring and summer semesters of 2008

1. Fulfillment of Major Pledges

(1) Extension of the School Shuttle Bus Service Hours
We have extended the service hours of the school shuttle buses running between the Administration Building & Nokdu Street and Seoul National University Subway Station, from 6:30 P.M. to 7:00 P.M.

(2) Emergency Remedies Reservation Policy
There is only one drugstore on campus, which closed early. We have therefore supplied emergency remedies in the security rooms of each college, Student Center, and Central University Library, which can be used by all students freely.

(3) Online Lecture Evaluation System
Results of the lecture evaluation done by the school administration had not been available to students and had raised many issues. Therefore we produced a online lecture evaluation system and more than 6700 students have participated in the evaluation.

(4) Emergency Safety Shuttle
It is difficult to use public transportation when students study late on campus, because generally buses do not operate past midnight and it is hard to catch a taxi at that hour. Therefore we made a contract with a private taxi driver, allowing students to commute to Nokdu Street and Seoul National University Subway Station safely even during late hours.

(5) Finishing the"17+1" Program
A number of colleges had restricted the default maximum credit of each semester to 17 credits, which was inconvenient for many students. All colleges have now increased their default maximum credit to 18 credits.

(6) Female Students' Lounge
We had a conference about the improvement of the female student lounge environment and labor scholarship problem, and came up with plans to implement on several female student lounges in the Student Center, College of Business, etc. We also opened a female student lounge on Yeongeon Campus.

(7) Experiential Creativity Lecture
We received a promise from the school administration that all students will be offered opportunities to take experiential creativity lectures such as the freshmen seminar. Many of the current lectures will be changed into experiential creativity lectures. There will shortly be a survey to collect students' ideas.

(8) Campus Security Strengthening
The school administration had turned off the campus streetlights for energy conservation during the summer. However, the Student Association has brought light to the importance of streetlights for students' safety, thereby changing the school policy, which now aims to guarantee security on campus. Moreover, we are planning to increase the campus security budget next year specifically in regards to campus security in a long-term.

(9) Online Lecture
After a conference with the Division of Educational Affairs, all the equipment and system for the production of online lectures have been obtained. We are now advertising for the recruitment of professors to participate in the program.

2. Pledges of Each College

(28) 'Polyfessor' Problem
To prevent the students' right to educate from being infringed by professors' reckless political activities, we had a conference with the school administration to address the problem. As a result, we founded a committee to make guidelines about professors' political activity, and agreed to finish the first draft within this semester and amend the school provision.

It has already been 10 months since the 51st General Student's Association has been elected. Now the term of office is almost over, but we still have pledges we have yet to accomplish. Many of our projects are still in progress, and we will try our best in order to keep our promises. Thank you very much.
