Seoul National University Social Responsibility (Chair Kim Taekyoon) and the Office of International Affairs (Vice President Seung Ah Cho) successfully finished the “2023 Winter SWP+SR SNU in Malaysia” program led by team 'Shatu'. The name 'Shatu' is a combination of 'Sha', which stands for Seoul National University and 'Satu,' which means number 1 in Malay, symbolizing taking climate action, starting with baby steps. Team Shatu started preparing for this project from October 2023, and participated in classes and field training in Malaysia from January 6th (Saturday) to January 21st (Sunday) 2024, carrying out relevant contribution activities.

After intensive biology training courses taught by Seoul National University professors, team Shatu conducted field training in Malaysia and engaged in various contribution activities to address environmental issues in the country. Targeting children living in water houses on Gaya Island, they planned environmental education activities including ▲environmental education storytelling, ▲environmental education Yutnori (traditional Korean board game), ▲biodiversity education, and ▲marine life mosaic art. On the last day, they collected recyclable plastic waste on Gaya Island with the students and transported it to the mainland. Collaborating with a local environmental organization, they also carried out an environmental campaign for tourists near Tanjung Aru Beach, urging interest and action on environmental issues. Additionally, they organized an environmental forum for citizens interested in the environment at the Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS). The forum included ▲lectures on the current state of marine biodiversity research (Professor Lim Young Woon, School of Biological Sciences), ▲efforts of NGOs for marine biodiversity (Michael Yap, TAME), ▲presentations on marine biodiversity and pollution by students from Seoul National University and Universiti Malaysia Sabah, and ▲discussions on conservation efforts for marine biodiversity.

Since its foundation in February 2013, SNUSR has been serving as a hub organization responsible for social contributions within the university, providing education on social contribution and engaging in domestic and international social contribution practices based on social responsibility and expertise.
